We ended up paying an extra amount double what we had already paid through through discovercars. Bit of f a trap with these third party companies. Bargincars should make sure these details are monitored on other sites where there cars are being hired. Staff acted like they had no idea about it when collecting the car.

Impossible to get hold of over the phone. Poor service, and on pickup they tried to promote their own insurance policies in preference to the insurance bought via the booking site.

Cons: When I collected my car I was asked if I wanted to take out the extra protection. I declined as my travel insurance covered the rental excess. It was at this stage that I was advised that if I did not take out the protection that if the car was written off that I would be liable for the full cost of the car. I did question this was told it was this Car Rentals policy. I felt that I had no choice but to pay the additional $364.88. I left the office feeling that I had actually been scammed.

High numbers of people waiting for transport from the airport to Bargain Cars meant that the main driver had to be taken in a shuttle first, with the passenger to supposedly follow in the next shuttle. The passenger finally got on the 4th shuttle that was sent after waiting for an hour. Also tred on one of the tyres was minimal. In NZ the car would not have passed a warrant of fitness.

Pros: This is a legitimate company operating close to the airport with great prices on rentals.

Cons: Nothing against the rental company, just with the car model. I reserved a mid size SUV. The model was a MG. The car was clean and new, however while driving in Brisbane I encountered many hills/slopes. This model of car would hesitate and lack the drive power to start off on these hills. Once the car automatically switched to the next gear the power would kick in and the car worked accordingly. Again this is nothing toward the company and strictly toward the car model.

The remote lock/unlock did not work all the time near the end of trip and so we think the batteries need changing. The ignition was not working as well as it could be and may need some attention. Pros: After a breakdown they did send a mechanic fairly quickly as well as a tow truck after it was determined the car was not roadworthy.

Cons: At the time of booking, it indicated that we would receive a Hyundai or equivalent. Turned out we were given an MG which ran really rough and ultimately broke down. After I called Bargain Cars to report that the car was running very roughly, I was told that this is normal and there was no alternative vehicle available. It was only after it broke down that they found an alternative car for me.

Staff didn’t know where cars were supposed to be returned, asked us to queue up (when there was a long queue for people picking up cars) to return the keys but after a long wait just said we could pass the keys to them and that was it. Wasted time queueing for nothing if they could have taken the keys straightaway upon return.

Pros: I tried to cancel my booking - and never actually hired the car and didn’t cancel in time by the time I got a response - I was directed to the third party website I’d booked through and I was told I was under the 48hr period. So I had was 3 days trying to get through - got nothing refunded and no credit. Not happy - will use a more well known company in future.

There was not enough staff or buses to match the demand of people booked at that time. People pushed in front as there was no system, it was very poorly managed and organised. We had to call up and ask about something and it turns out we were given the wrong vehicle also!

Cons: The insurance is convoluted and not clear and very expensive. Especially when I rent the car indirectly from Bargain. A comprehensive insurance should be embedded into the rental price so the experience would be more relaxed and smooth.

Cons: The pick up from Brisbane airport was poor. We phoned and answer service to say we were waiting. The service said we would get a text which never arrived. We waited for about 45 min for the shuttle and the driver offered no help - told us to load the cases into the already full boot. The return driver was much better as he loaded one of our two cases

Cons: Drop off was a bit slow - a lot of people and only one representative at desk. It wasn't until waiting awhile that we were told we could drop off keys if car was full (petrol) and no damage - that cleared half the people in the place.

Pros: We waited at the airport send confirmation text 3 times and no reply , people in front of us had been waiting for hours, had to send van back several times to pick every body waiting in front of us .

Cons: Finally got to car rental place and it was a 2 hour wait in the baking sun ,no shade no water , .Staff were fabulous doing the best they could .4 hours later we left for maloolooba,got there engine light came on , next day checked oil and water and didn't use , told staff when we dropped it off and they didn't givet a f#!* .

No instructions as to closest petrol station to fill when returning

Pros: The personnwho attended us was very rude and lack customer service. He was fine at first bu when the scenario changed, his mood just went downhill. Even rolling his eyes and sighing. That is his job, and his job is to make sure clients get a SAFE and CLEAN car from the start! It is very disappointing!

The fact they released the initial car for us to use without properly checking it is a violation! My family could have been in a very bad accident because of that! I have photos to prove! Cons: Check in was so slow on the Saturday morning and during drop off I asked if the shuttle could drop me off at the IBIS Brisbane airport instead of the domestic airport stop and 3 agents said no, then drove right past it. Literally went through a round about next to the IBIS. I had two kids and the walk was fine however, we drove right past it? Top Service would have simply dropped me and my kids off.
